Things to do in Cornwall

We have been to Cornwall quite a few times, these are our favourite non beach places.

Tintagel Castle

We did not get chance to visit here but wanted to include anyway as it’s on our list for next time. Legend has it that Tintagel Castle was home to King Arthur. On your visit, guests can walk around the old grounds of this castle. Dogs are welcome throughout.

Lands End

We have been to John O’Groats and seen the sign there, read our NC500 blogs here. This was a very different experience. Lands End is very touristy and you are even supposed to pay to take a photo with the sign!!! We didn’t and got one anyway from before the barrier.

Minack Theatre

We didn’t go to Minack but did see bits of it from the neighbouring beach, it would be nice to visit for an actual play one day. Make sure you book ahead.

Trengwainton Garden

This is a National Trust property that we visited. It was a nice stroll through walled gardens, woods and onto the house lawn. It was a tranquil place and Phoebe even got told by a passing lady she was pretty! Made her day.

St Micheal’s Mount

This is another National Trust property but they don’t allow dogs at this location so we didn’t go over. We parked and walked the town and then looked out to the Mount.

Lizard Point

This is yet another National Trust property, we parked and walked down to Lizard Point. On the way back up we went round past the lighthouse after giving Barney his first dog ice cream! He loved it!

Seal Sanctuary

Phoebe has visited here twice now, the first was for our staghen where she had a breakfast with seals experience which included a private tour, feeding some seals and then breakfast too. Second time was with Chris and Barney. Bareny was not sure on the seals, would highly recommend taking your dog anyway so they can be made aware of them should they ever encounter in the wild.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

The gardens here are huge, you have jungles, woodlands, Italian gardens, animals, and more. We spent a few hours exploring here and Chris even went over the rope bridge through the jungle.

Phoebe’s Point

This is located at Porthpean beach, instead of going left to the beach head to the right for a stunning viewpoint. We are yet to head right but hope to next time.

Eden Project

We have visited the Eden project a few times over the years. March we found was easy to get around, August was busier. We highly recommend coming here for the huge variety of flowers and plants. The biomes are absolutely amazing and are our favourite part of the Eden project especially the rainforest one.
